TFC Drama Club to Perform “Much Ado About Nothing”

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

The TFC Drama Club, known for past productions such as You Can’t Take It With You, Charley’s Aunt, and Cyrano de Bergerac, will present William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing November 7-9. The play is a romantic comedy set in Messina, Sicily. The story involves lead characters Claudio and Hero, who are due to be married within a week. To pass the time before their wedding, the pair agree to conspire with Don Pedro, the prince of Aragon, to trick their friends, Beatrice and Benedick, into confessing their love for one another.

“We’ve done tremendously well with the past few plays,” states Jessica Khoury, the president of the Drama Club and former director. “Therefore, we felt it was time to tackle something more challenging for our actors, costumers, set designers, and directors.”

Christian Wilkowski, a senior at Toccoa Falls, is the director. She has performed in past productions at the college, but Much Ado will be her directorial debut. Under her leadership, the largest cast of actors has come together for this production. “We built a strong community with the common bond of Shakespeare,” says Wilkowski.

Much Ado About Nothing will be performed on November 7, 8, and 9, at 7:00 p.m. each night in the Grace Chapel and Performing Arts Center at Toccoa Falls College. Guests of all ages are invited to join in the fun. Nursery will be provided for children 3 and under. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults.
