TFC Students Donate Turkeys to Toccoa Community

This Thanksgiving the students at Toccoa Falls College made a decision to give rather than receive. Everyone involved in the community project they organized agreed it was one event they would never forget
Earlier this year, TFC students voted to take half of the money normally used for their Christmas banquet and purchase turkeys and canned goods for those in the Toccoa area who could not afford a Thanksgiving meal. This past Saturday they gave away 500 turkeys and countless bags of canned food at three separate locations within the city. But it wasn’t just a day to distribute food; it was a day for TFC students to spend time with many of the area residents they had come to know. There was also time set aside for basketball games, tag football, crafts, face painting and a cookout.
Each week TFC students have the opportunity to participate in one of two student ministries, Light Zone and Kid Zone, where they spend time with children in the Toccoa community. One TFC student explains, “We just ‘hang out’ with the kids. We show them we care by being involved in their lives. But the truth is we also gain a lot, too. We demonstrate God’s unconditional love to them, and they demonstrate unconditional acceptance to us.”
